Dublin's City Hall, on Dame Street in Dublin City, was built by the Guild of Merchants and is a magnificent example of Georgian architecture. It is well worth a stop to view its beautiful dome, richly coloured murals, ornate marble floors, and statues.

Dublin's City Hall is a magnificent example of the Georgian architecture for which Dublin is world-renowned. Built by the Guild of Merchants between 1769 and 1779 to house the Royal Exchange, it has a wonderful ambiance of old world charm.

The beautiful Rotunda where the merchants strolled discussing their business lies beneath an impressive ornate gold-leafed dome and is surrounded by statues and richly coloured murals, each one with a story to tell. A central mosaic in the Rotunda’s marble floor displays the Dublin City Seal.

Visitors can enjoy a view of the city from the steps of this stunning building and become a part of City Hall’s rich historical past. From the early days when it was a business centre to the exquisite venue it is today where a variety of events are celebrated, Dublin City Hall is one of the most beautiful locations in the heart of Dublin city.
